Internet marketing article: What Do Uncle Sam And Multiple Streams Of Income Have In Common?
Article Tips > Internet marketing
Many years ago I had the good fortune to be gifted a four year scholarship to college by my uncle. However, uncle did have some stipulations. For one thing, I couldn't fail my courses or the money would be forfeited. Also, it was made abundently clear I would have to supplement what he gave me, by going to work. Still I was alright with that. What I didn't realize was, work would entail two and three jobs.
I guess right here I should confess, my education wasn't really a gift. You see I had traded four years of my life in the U. S. Navy to earn that privilege. So Yeah, Uncle Sam was a good guy but he had his rules. Right after the books and beanies were given out I found myself working. I had three jobs in short order, two as a bartender and one as Advertising Manager for my college newspaper. At that time three jobs were three jobs, no big deal, you did what you had to do. My friend from New York once even said, "hey I hoid ya got t'ree jobs."
Well, what was known as having three jobs then has now morphed into having "multiple streams of income." That's right if I were working those three jobs now, I would be earning multiple streams of income. What! you thought it was such a big deal? It actually doesn't matter whether you're working online or off. Having more than one job means having more than one income.
So why all this background leading up to talking about multiple streams of income? Well if you are working a business online, it might be a good idea not to put all your eggs in one basket. There are many different ways to make money on the internet and many are related. So for instance if you get involved in promoting affiliates, you might also market adwords to accelerate the process. From there you might produce and promote your own affiliate. Now you have multiple streams of income.
The exact example of what I'm talking about happened to a friend. He and his wife bowled in a league every week. One night he mentioned to another couple, he was thinking of starting a business online but couldn't come up with a product. (Do you think they had multiple streams of income in mind then?) The friend offhandedly suggested they sell retro bowling shirts. The business took off and they were selling shirts faster than they could get them. Someone emailed them and asked if they had Pink Ladies shirts from the show "Grease." They ordered a few on consignment and they sold out immediately. Next it was "Elvis" costumes, big hit. Finally, they started supplying costumes for high school theatre productions all over the country. In a short time they bought a large house in the country. They converted a barn that came with the property into their warehouse and offices. Multiple streams of income happened effortlessly for them.
That couple didn't even seek out their good fortune, it just naturally fell their way. They have since hired people to take care of their mailing, which leaves them free to do other things.
If you are having thoughts of starting an online business, first concentrate on your original idea. Once you feel the first one is comfortably underway, look for alternative or related ideas. Start thinking multiple streams of income. There are so many online businesses now it seems almost automatic that starting a second is just a matter of time. If you are not sure how to initiate a new business, remember their is a ton of information on the internet. Ebooks are another great source of information. One of the best on multiple streams of income is Ultimate Wealth Builder. Good Luck.
