Rv article: Producing Income With An Rv Based Business
Article Tips > Rv
One of the most commonly asked questions by folks intending to go RV Boondocking full-time is: "How can we make money RVing?"
This is because many aspiring full-time RV Boondockers, like me, can't sustain their full-time RV Boondocking with what they've managed to set by in savings. We have no choice. Work we must. The choice we do have is what that work will be.
Also, again like me, many of those folks really don't want to work as camp hosts, retail clerks in resort gift shops and such. That's too much like the old 9 to 5 life. RV Full-timing is stepping out on a new adventure and they (we) really want a differant approach to adding a little supplementary income.
So what can we do, to produce some RVing income, in our RV Boondocking Camp?
My answer is, it's simple. It's hard, but it's simple. The way of the future still seems to be this thing we are communicating on right now, the computer.
I would use this machine, we love to hate! Build an RV based business to add some RVing income to your budget. If you get good enough at it you may even be able to produce a full-time level of income! But again, I have to say, you must work hard at it. There are no GRQ's ( Get Rich Quick Schemes).
Think about it. What sane person is going to sell a Goose that lays Golden Eggs?
If anyone tells you, they have a way for you to make a lot of money, and it's easy, (GRQ) get a good firm grip on your wallet .... and RUN!
There are NO GRQ's!
That said, I think, there is a fine way, for a full-time RV boondocker, to make money Rving, while sitting in a beautiful, remote, RV Boondocking camp!
But first, there are two problems to deal with. The first being your internet connection. Sitting miles from anywhere, you will seldom be able to connect by way of an "air card" using a cellular system. If you usually use RV Parks in your travels finding one with free Wi Fi is generally not too difficult.
But, when you are making reservations be sure to ask if you must be in the club house or can you connect from your RV? Also, double check to make sure it is actually Wi Fi. Sometimes it turns out to be a dialup telephone connection in the club house, and the park staff doesn't know the difference!
Of course, dialup, at your site, is perfectly fine!
The premier solution is to install a satellite system! They are available in manually erected, tripod mounted setups or roof mounted, automatic systems. The lead company is Hughes with their Datastorm system.
They are costly at $5,000 plus installed, but with that onboard, you can connect virtually anywhere from Mexico to Alaska!
With your internet connection acquired you're going to need the power to keep it all running. One of the EU series Honda generators will do that job ...... but running a generator several hours every day will quickly get old.
How about putting in a solar system? It's what I've done on my own rig. Again, not a cheap solution, but the peace and quiet, working in your "mobile office", parked on the bank of some mountain lake, while your solar power system keeps your satellite system connecting you to the internet is pretty awsome!
Now with those problems solved, what are you going to actually do to produce your RVing income?
Use the knowledge you already have! Build a website. Build it around a subject for which you have a true passion, and with which you have a lot of personal experience and knowledge.
There are millions of people, surfing the internet, trying to locate that information. Their desire is to get it from real, credible, people they can learn to trust. Your job is to be that person.
Create and build the trust, with your knowledge and experience, and you will reap the rewards. Again, it's not quick and it's not easy, but if you're willing to invest the time, effort and passion, you will be rewarded.
"But", you ask, "How does this all provide any RVing income?" Haven't you seen the google adsense ads on websites all over the net? Those ads are targeted by google to be relevant to the subject of the website. When the visitors of that website click on an ad, the publisher of the website gets paid!
It's a win win situation. You put the information in front of your readers. Your reader finds the information they were searching for. They learn to trust your experience. You make money RVing.
The key to the whole process is to deliver solid, relevant, trustworthy information.
There are many other ways to "monetize" the traffic your website generates. In addition to the google adsense program, you can publish referral offers, appropriate affiliate links promoting relevant products, sell e-books, either books you authored, or on a commission basis (affilliate) from others, and even sell hard goods. Again either self produced or resale.
The bottom line, the Holy Grail, I guess you could say, to success in this, is the traffic. That is built, over time, by providing an ever growing volume of good content. Reliable, relevant, trustworthy, content that delivers more than you promised. Think of it as under promising and over delivering. Give people more than they expected and the trust just naturally follows.
The sky is the limit. The determining factor is really how hard you want to work. You can go from very part time in pursuit of supplementary income to intense full time if your desire is to create a full-time RV Boondocking income. What ever toots your whistle. It's your choice!
The most difficult part may be the physical building of the web site. I for one was totally computer illiterate. How in the devil was I going to build a website? You must find a web host that offers a program to help folks like me build a traffic generating web site. For me, it was Site Sell. I have not found another company that delivers anything approaching the quality and integrity of their "system".
Producing RVing income, like producing a living anywhere, is not easy or quick. It takes hard work. There are problems specific to RV Boondocking that must be overcome. But, if you do that, if you are willing to invest the effort and the passion, it can be a life changing experience.
Think about it. You can create an actual, profitable, RV Based Busines. A business framed around that subject for which you are deeply passionate, whatever that subject may be.
It can often end up being, not work, but an "I can't believe they pay me to do this" situation!
