The first thing you will need is a quality web site. Many people think they can just throw together a sloppy web site with nothing but banners ads and referral links, submit it to some search engines, and start receiving floods of traffic. This cannot be further from the truth. In order to get traffic coming to your site again and again, you must have a useful site. Give the visitors a reason to return.

Once you have developed a useful site you can begin your traffic building campaign.

I recommend using:

1. Article Marketing:

Article marketing is a very good way to gain targeted traffic to your site. Article marketing allows other webmasters to use your article on their site as long as they keep your article and bio in tact. Write short articles between 250 and 500 words and submit them to several article directories. As your articles spread across the internet your traffic, incoming links, and ranking will increase.

2. Link Exchanging:

Exchanging links with related web sites can not only bring you more traffic, but it can also increase your page's ranking in the search engines. The more incoming links to your site the more important the search engines consider your website. Keep in mind that the links must be related to your site's content. Stay away from link farms and free for all link exchange sites. These will only hurt your rankings.

Start by emailing webmasters and telling them that you will be linking to their useful website. Then ask if they would consider linking to your site. Tell them why your site is useful and how it can benefit their visitors. Many webmasters will be glad to exchange links.

3. Forum Posting

Have you ever been a member of a web forum? Maybe you actively post in one currently. Place a link to your website in your signature and make quality posts on forums daily. As users read your informative posts, they will see your link and follow it to your site. Search engines will also index the pages of forums and create back links to your site.
